July 2010

It’s been a year of travels! After our trip to Europe in the fall, my husband and I returned home for part of the winter, then set out for a two month trip to Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Bali. What a fantastic trip, with lots to see and savour. To keep in touch with family and friends, plus for us to have a visual memory of this experience, we wrote a blog. It can been viewed at www.travelpod.com/travel-blog/maitribe/1/tpod.html.

We returned home in time for spring, then left after a month, for a short two week trip to Latvia again. The time there was spent with family and friends, setting in roots.

My most recent painting, “Missing Pieces”, shown here is 52 cm x 72 cm.

“The Shallows” was accepted as part of this year’s Owen Sound Art Banner project.

I will be participating in the Artists Around the Sound studio tour during the Thanksgiving weekend in October. It’s been quite awhile since I was part of this tour-nice to be back.

For the month of July, a small feature article about my art work thus far has been included in the regional newspaper “Mosaic”.

On July 10, I will again be a part of Art in the Garden, at Keppel Croft in Big Bay.

With all the stimulation of travel, there’s a lot to digest mentally before I proceed with new work. I was most influenced by the culture and customs of Balinese Hinduism in Bali. I hope to incorporate some of these observations in my upcoming paintings.
